Wenger Admits Fabregas Sold For A Reduced Fee

Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal could have got more money for Cesc Fabregas but decided to grant the midfielder's wish to return to Barcelona.

The long-running transfer saga finally reached its conclusion on Monday when Fabregas sealed a move back to Camp Nou after eight years with the Gunners.

Wenger had previously resisted Barca's attempts to sign Fabregas as Arsenal held firm on a £40million valuation.

But it is reported that the final deal was only worth around £35million, with Arsenal believed to be getting paid £25m up front followed by a possible extra £4.3million depending on Barca's success.

"We sold Cesc for a reduced fee. If Cesc is for sale and you can make an auction between Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City, you will certainly get more money, but he just wanted to go to Barcelona. "

Cesc Fabregas Ready For Barcelona Challenge

Cesc Fabregas claims returning to his roots at Barcelona has presented him with the challenge of his life.

The Spain international completed his move from Arsenal to Camp Nou on Monday, penning a five-year contract.

A Catalan native, Fabregas heads back to Barcelona after eight years in England with the Gunners.

A switch to the reigning Spanish and European champions has been on the cards for some time, with each passing transfer window bringing a fresh round of transfer talks.

Fabregas is delighted to have finally secured a dream move, while Barca are relieved to have got their man at the umpteenth time of asking.

Cesc Fabregas On Verge Of Barcelona Move

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is close to signing for European champions Barcelona for a fee believed to be about £35m.

The transfer, one of the most protracted in Premier League history, is yet to be completed but Arsenal expect it to be done by the weekend.

According to a senior source at the club, all the funds generated by the sale will be reinvested in new players.

Arsenal have been linked with Scott Dann, Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill.

Fabregas, 24, would be unable to feature for Barcelona in the Champions League if he plays a part in Arsenal's match with Udinese on Tuesday, motivating both clubs to complete a deal before that game.
